Boston's Run To Remember has gone Virtual!
HALF MARATHON & 5 MILE RACE
With the health and well-being of our participants, volunteers, medical staff and 1st Responders at the front of our minds, our Board of Directors have been working closely with our government partners and have decided that it is necessary to change the 2020 Boston’s Run To Remember to a Virtual Race.
The 2020 Boston’s Run To Remember Virtual Race is the perfect opportunity for you to continue your training through May and beyond, when it is safe to do so, get some fresh air and run your half marathon or 5-mile race at a location and time of your choice. You will be mailed your special commemorative finisher medal and t-shirt!
Boston’s Run To Remember is a small non-profit organization, your race registration fee generates funds for local charities and youth programs in addition to providing a safe and secure course through the City of Boston, organized by an army of volunteers.
Boston’s Run To Remember has donated over $120,000 to organizations this year including Boston Bruins Bfit First Responders Challenge, that supports the Massachusetts Hundred Club which supports the families of fallen police and firefighters; Sole Train, an after school running program; and the Boston Police Health and Wellness Foundation.
The overhead costs include: the expo hall and hotel, the many months of logistical efforts to produce a race of this magnitude, RRCA insurance coverage, medical personnel, event t-shirts and medals for all participants, as well as all the marketing and planning that starts each year right after one race finishes. Much of these things were secured, deposits paid and items paid-for many months ago and are non-refundable.
Because of these costs and donations, unfortunately we are unable to provide our participants with refunds, if we did, it would be the end of Boston’s Run To Remember. We are also unable to provide deferrals as these are the same costs that we will incur for next year's Run To Remember.
Current participants in the half marathon and 5-mile race will automatically be switched to this year’s virtual race. We are also offering the option to donate your registration back to the Charities of the Boston’s Run To Remember so that we can continue to support our 1st Responder community.
We wish you all the best health and well being.
