Champion Chip

Boston’s Run To Remember will be utilizing Champion Chip timing. At packet pick up on race weekend, each registered race participant will be given a 6” by 9” envelope with the following information inside:
  • Race Bib
  • (4) safety pins
  • Champion Chip
  • Instructions on using a Champion Chip

The race bib should be worn on the front of the shirt with the (4) safety pins that are in the envelope. The Champion Chip should be attached to one of your running shoes (either the left or the right shoe is acceptable).

During packet pickup you will be asked to scan your Champion Chip across a mat and a computer screen will show your personal information such as age and gender. If you notice an error, a race official will help you make any corrections.

On race day, you must wear your Champion Chip. At the start of the race you will move across a red, rubber mat across the entire street. Once you cross this mat your Champion Chip is activated and your start time has begun. If it takes you a few minutes to cross the starting line after the race has officially started, do not panic. Your time does not start counting until your individual Champion Chip has cross the mat.

If you do not wear your Champion Chip you will not be included in the race results. Do not wear anyone else’s Champion Chip either.

Upon finishing the race you will again cross a red, rubber mat and your time will be stopped. Prior to exiting the finish line chute, you will be asked to remove your Champion Chip. If you need assistance a volunteer will be on hand to help you with the removal of the Champion Chip. As you exit the finish line chute, a volunteer will take your Champion Chip and will then give you a finisher’s medallion (congratulations).

If you do not run the race, you must mail your Champion Chip in a padded envelope immediately to the following address:

BRTR
Attn: Champion Chip
401 Main Street
Melrose, MA – 02176

Any lost or unreturned chips will result in a $35 charge to the individual assigned to that specific Champion Chip.

Important note for race results:
Boston’s Run to Remember utilizes gun time for all race results and does not utilize chip time.
